Before becoming a dad I had a lot of ambitions…in fact, I still do. It’s no secret that becoming a parent is a life-changing event, and with it come new challenges and a lot of questions. Even though it feels like my daughter has been a part of my life forever, I’ve only been on the job for seven months. Lets be real, I’m still a newbie.
To offer some guidance to new moms and dads and parents-to-be, Extra Space Storage put together a video called “10 Things I Wish I’d Known Before Having a Baby.”
Not only is this video fantastic advertising (I should know), but all of their advice is 100% true…
The video reminds me that IT IS all worth it, even when parenting gets poopy… and believe me, in my short experience there is a lot of poop.
But as one parent in the video says, “Oh, yeah. Worth it. All the poop and snot and screaming and crying and fighting, worth it. All of it, totally worth it.”
The tips range from “make room for the baby” to “hold onto keepsakes and memories” to “get on a schedule.”
Did I mention the “get on a schedule” one?
“Schedule is key to sleep,” and sleep is THE BEST. And pretty necessary, too. (Read this book to learn about sleep training, it’s a life changer.)
But perhaps the most spot-on piece of advice is #1: “The one thing you can’t understand and prepare for, that you’re not going to know until you experience it, is all the love…”
Damn onions. 😭
